Where Fairy Tales Come True
Trahan Wedding
I joked about getting married in a castle since I was a little girl. Kings and Queens, Knights, and servants. I wanted to tame a fire-breathing dragon. This was obviously a fantasy though; not something I took seriously. The year was 2014 when I stumbled across pictures of Louisiana Castle online. I had no love in my life, but once I saw the Castle, I held tightly to that little girl’s dreams of one day feeling like a Princess. Four years later, the time arrived when I needed to plan a wedding.... My wedding. Though I was over 50, and this wouldn’t be my first wedding, I still anchored to the notion being wed in a castle would solidify me with old-school Royalty. The Princess becomes Queen for a day.

And so, I made a call…..

The Castle is beautiful. I’ve always been into medieval times so the “Castle side” of the décor was perfect. (I have several swords and a hatchet hanging in my home.) I say “Castle side” because the ballroom is as elegant as one would expect for a wedding. We did not upgrade our décor, but the white linen accented with silver was tasteful and pristine looking. That was a genuine selling point for us because we were on a tight budget, as I chose to spend money on all the extra touches for myself like expensive champagne glasses and etched wedding favors. Although I was too nervous to eat, I understand everyone enjoyed the food. The cake tables were beautifully arranged and the setup table with wedding favors was adorned with a few of my personal decorations.
